We keep our focus simple so we can have the biggest impact possible. Everything we do as a church is filtered through our focus on helping every person live the full life for which God created all of us.

Jeff and Kathy Payne

Jeff Payne (Bro. Jeff) has been a pastor for over forty years. He loves serving the Lord Jesus through the ministries of Compass Church. He is keenly aware that his responsibility is to equip saints (all of us) for the work of the ministry, and he is not interested in putting on a show or building a personal following. "Any church that revolves around a pastor has misplaced priorities and is doing it wrong. We are all serving at the pleasure of Lord Jesus. My role and function is different, and my obligations are more scrutinized, but I am no more 'called' than any other Christian." His vision for this church is that it continues to be an intensely glowing beacon of love, truth and light.

Jeff preaches the majority of messages and is the chief leader and "vision caster," under Christ for our church, but all of our members are God-called ministers learning to respond to the calling on our lives.

Gary and Diana Johnson

Gary and Diana Johnson serve as Worship Pastors at Compass Church in Beaumont. The couple has a true passion for worship, and desire for Compass Church to grow closer to The Lord by experiencing His presence through corporate worship. They also desire to see the members of Compass Church thrive in their personal worship time throughout the week.

Gary and Diana host a Worship Small group on Thursdays at 6:30pm at the church. The couple has been leading worship at Compass for 4 years, however, they have lead worship for many years prior to being called to Compass.

The Johnson’s have 2 children. Their son, Branson is 16 and is actively involved in the youth group at Compass. Their daughter Addison is married and lives in Dallas. She and her husband, Covenant are also worship pastors at a church in the Dallas area. The Johnson’s are very family oriented, and value time with their families as well as church family.

Gary and Diana are the Youth Pastors at Compass Church as well. They host a Youth Service at the church on Wednesdays at 6:00pm that is geared toward young people ages 6th grade through 12th grade. The Johnson’s strive to reach the younger generation, and to propel them into a true, personal relationship with Jesus. Gary and Diana disciple and mentor each young person as they grow in their faith and discover who they are in Christ.
